Be Amazing!

Family Life Church is full of amazing people doing amazing things.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Our History

Our founders, Dr. Victor Toney and Dr. Mary Toney started The House of Prayer in 1964 as an independent church with Pentecostal roots. For more than four decades they faithfully pastored the church in the same community, building a strong reputation and wide-spread appreciation throughout the region for dependability and solid, Biblical teaching. In the early 1980’s, The House of Prayer was renamed to Restoration Tabernacle.

In 2007, shortly before his transition to Heaven, Dr. Victor Toney handed the torch of leadership to his youngest son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kathy. The following Easter of 2008, Pastors Tom and Kathy and their young family moved from the Chicago-land area, leaving a staff position with a 15,000-member mega-church, and conducted their first service as lead pastors in Marion. At that time, the church, located at 582 Lee St., was a congregation of 45 people.

The church was soon renamed Family Life Church and began to grow rapidly, hosting multiple services each weekend. In 2012, having outgrown their Lee Street building, FLC purchased an existing warehouse and moved to the current location. Since that time, FLC has grown into a strong, healthy church family, adding multiple Sunday services, with the additional reach of a broad on-line community with members in various locations. Family Life Church has become a vibrant community of believers with influence in every sector of our region; from government and civic leadership to businesses, law enforcement, community revitalization, education, families and students.

FLC’s Number 1 Missional Focus is the Next Generation. Through KUEST Student Leadership, God has enable us to step into an expanded reach both nationally and internationally - working in churches, sports clubs and school systems. Through the KUEST System, which includes training next gen leaders and coaches, and extensive leadership curriculum and resources, thousands of students have been empowered, starting as early as 3rd grade, to be strong leaders. D6 Home is a part of this movement, returning power to the Home, the primary place of training for children.

In 2014, Victor College, a 2-year Bible College, was established to train and equip high-school students and adults for leadership in ministry. Since that time more than 100 students have successfully participated in Victor College and now play an integral part in the leadership of FLC.

God spoke to our pastors in 2023 to launch KUEST Academy Christian School, with the vision of partnering with families and providing an option in Marion for quality academics with a leadership focus and Biblical worldview. In our second year of operation, KUEST Academy was certified as a Non-Public Charter School by the State of Ohio, verifying the quality of the staff, curriculum and vision of The Academy, and giving greater ability to families to establish their children in Christian education. KUEST Academy Christian School serves students K4 - 12th Grade.

Our Lead Pastors

Our Lead Pastors

Pastors Tom and Kathy Toney love living life together and have served in ministry for over 30 years. Having been raised in amazing Christian homes, they’ve had the privilege of knowing God their entire lives. Early in their marriage, a medical diagnosis caused them to dive into The Word of God to find answers that changed their situation and their family forever. As a result, they are passionate about teaching how Faith in God’s Word can save, heal, transform anything and bring God’s Goodness into our lives.

With the God-given assignment to Restore the Power of Godly Homes and help Reverse the Slow Fade of Christianity, their largest missional focus is passing strong faith to the next generation. They have impacted the thinking of local churches and organizations for the last 20 years with the founding of the KUEST Student Leadership movement, currently serving churches across the United States, Canada, Europe and South America.

A Marion native, Pastor Tom considers it an honor to serve the ministry that his parents began 6 decades ago. Pastors Tom and Kathy stepped into leading Family Life Church in 2008, and since that time, God has enabled the church to grow into a vibrant church, where people truly connect with Jesus, grow in God’s Word, and partner with the church to raise strong, Kingdom-minded families. They desire to see their church family live in the true power of Christ, able to influence every part of the community for Him.

In addition to leading Family Life Church and KUEST Student Leadership, Pastors founded KUEST Academy Christian School in 2023, giving families in our region a Christian alternative for quality academics with a leadership focus and an emphasis on performing arts.

Pastors Tom and Kathy are grateful to God for the gift of their family - Grant and Brenna, Alexandra and Maxwell. They enjoy spending time conquering National and International Parks, but the emphasis of their family is endeavoring to walk in a fuller and fuller measure of God’s call on them.

Our Beliefs

This Church accepts the Bible as the revealed Word of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity of statements of faith.

The Scriptures both Old and New Testament are the inspired, infallible revelation of God to man and the authority of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12)

The one true God has revealed Himself as the “I AM,” the Creator, and Redeemer of mankind. (John 1:1-5, 10-14; Matthew 28:18-20)

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death and resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God. (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:8-10; Galatians 2:16, 2 Corinthians 5:10)

Man’s only hope is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by faith through grace and demonstrated in repentance. (Romans 3:24; John 3:3) On the cross, Jesus Christ became sin and sickness providing both salvation and divine healing for all mankind (Psalm 103:3), being justified freely by His Grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. For by grace we are saved through faith. (Ephesians 2:8)

A subsequent experience of the Holy Spirit coming upon our lives, according to Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:4 with one of the signs being speaking in other tongues along with other gifts (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, and interpretation of tongues) and a courageous, Spirit-led life. (Acts 2:4, 10:44-46; 19:2, 6; 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Galatians 5:16-26)

The act of separation from that which is evil, and dedication unto God. (Romans 6:6; 1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 2 Thessalonians 2:13)

The Church is the representative of Jesus on earth and is to carry out the Great Commission. (Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; Hebrews 12:23)

A divinely called and scripturally ordained minister has been provided by God to lead the church in evangelization, worship, building the body, and general leadership of the church. (Ephesians 4:11-16; Romans 12:3-8)

Total Healing and Prosperity is provided for today by the Scriptures and included in the atonement for our sins.

a) Spiritual. 3 John 2; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
b) Mental. 2 Timothy 1:7; Romans 12:2; Isaiah 26:3
c) Physical. Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24
d) Financial. Malachi 3:10-11; Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 8:9, 9:6-15; Deuteronomy 28:1-14
e) Social. Proverbs 3:4; Luke 2:52; Esther 2:15

The resurrection of the just is the blessed hope of the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

The second coming of Christ includes the rapture and a return to earth by Christ with His saints for a thousand-year reign. After this, there shall be a new heaven and a new earth, where all of God’s children will reign forever. (2 Thessalonians 1:7; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-6; Revelation 21)

There will be a final judgement at which all men will be judged. (Matthew 25:31-46)

Those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from the Godhead. The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, and anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life, shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. This is the second death, the lake of fire. (Revelation 19:20, 20:10-15)

God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family, the basic structure of human society. (Genesis 2:24) The Bible recognizes marriage as exclusively the legal union of one man and one woman. (Titus 1:6) The Bible also teaches that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within the Biblical model of marriage. (Hebrews 13:4)

Sexual activity outside of the Biblical marriage—such as adultery, fornication, viewing pornography, incest, homosexuality, attempts to reject or alter one’s biological gender, pedophilia, and bestiality—violate the teachings of the Bible and is therefore sinful and incompatible with Christian behavior. (Genesis 19:5-7, 26:8-11; Leviticus 18:1-29, 20:13; Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1:26-29; 1 Corinthians 5:1, 6:9-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)

God is the Creator and owner of all life. (Genesis 1:25; Psalm 50:10-12) He made us in His own image (Genesis 1:27; 2:7; James 3:9) and He calls us to Him from the moment of conception, before we are even born. (Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:13-16; Isaiah 49:1, 5; Luke 1:15; Job 10:8-12, 31:13-15) Children are a gift from God, (Psalm 127:3 and God hates the shedding of their blood through the sin of abortion. (Proverbs 6:16-17) Therefore, no health insurance plan of employee benefit of the church shall fund any abortion procedure, abortifacient drug, or any procedure or drug which utilizes or results in the production of tissue from abortion. Additionally, the Church rejects the use of aborted babies (fetal tissue) in research of manufacture of any vaccine or drug. (Jeremiah 1:4-5; Psalms 127:3; Joshua 24:15; Ephesians 6:1-4

Celebrations of the Church

The Lord’s Supper consisting of the Body and Blood represented in the fruit of the vine and bread. (1 Corinthians 11:24-25, 28)
